Jason Wu, Christopher Kane, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are among the fashion names providing inspiration for this season's spring/summer 2010 Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea at The Berkeley. A sweet sartorial indulgence that combines the best of both worlds - food and fashion - expect to see the most elegant and fashion-forward creations from Mourad Khiat, The Berkeley's head pastry chef.
"The combination of colours and textures this season translates wonderfully into cakes and pastries. I was particularly intrigued by hats this season, and wanted to make sure that the current Prêt-à-Portea collection represented the return of this statement accessory," explains Mourad, who visits London Fashion Week to inform his dainty patisserie delights.
Feast on Christopher Kane macaroons, Jean Paul Gaultier cakes, a Jason Wu frock, Sonia Rykiel's jaunty stripes and an Erdem dress and more. And, while you're there, you should of course dress the part - wearing the designs that inspired the cake collection. See how to dress the part here.
Prêt-à-Portea is served in The Caramel Room at The Berkeley from 1-6pm every day priced at £35
per person. (£43 including a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne, or alternatively for the fashion-conscious, £49 per person including a glass of couture Champagne). To make a reservation for Prêt-à-Portea call 020 7235 6000.
